Highly Sensitive Person Support

Helping you deal with overwhelm and find healthy solutions.

Do any of these sound familiar to you?

  • You feel things deeply and often have strong emotions

  • You tend to get overwhelmed easily by stress in relationships or at work

  • You care for others around you a lot but not as much for yourself

  • You have a tendency to people-please, and can be strongly self-critical.

  • You have trouble getting to sleep, because of everything on your mind.

  • You were told to “not be too sensitive” or to “toughen up” growing up

  • You frequently feel anxious, worried, or emotionally exhausted and don’t know why

If you answer “yes” to more than a couple of these HSP challenges, you might be a highly sensitive person or might have sensitive traits.

Learn to Bring Out The Gifts Of Your Sensitivity, Peacefully…

Don’t worry - there’s nothing wrong with you! High sensitivity is a normal personality trait found in %20 of the population. HSPs are the people who are naturally finely tuned to detect things that don’t even register for other people. This makes them attuned to other’s emotional states, as well as the changes in the environment. In their element, HSPs have many unique strengths.

However, this sensitivity of ours also makes us susceptible to feelings of overwhelm, anxiety, and emotional and physical exhaustion, which can make it difficult to experience the advantages of our personality. But this isn’t the end of the story. By developing proper tools and emotion regulation techniques, making healthy lifestyle changes, and sometimes untangling the emotional webs of the past HSPs can live more ease and bring out their gifts.

Through our work, you can…

⁍ Learn to slow down the emotional roller-coaster and stay calm even when your emotions are strong.

Stop the anxiety and stress cycles, so your natural calm and intelligence can come through.

⁍ Learn to set healthy boundaries/limits with others (e.g., saying “no”), prioritize yourself.

⁍ Fall asleep more easily and relax.

⁍ Let go of impostor syndrome.

⁍ Stop feeling like you’re broken somehow, that you must hide your sensitivity or "be tough"

⁍ Understand and healthily express yourself to your fullness.

⁍ Learn to work with sensitivity in order to improve your relationships

⁍ Embrace sensitivity and find your unique personality gifts and strengths so you can use them to the fullest!

My HSP Clients Said:

  • Y. Female, 32

My sessions with Tekin was very fruitful. As a highly sensitive person, I feel that I now have useful tools to navigate the world. Even better, the method of learning these tools feels natural and organic, rather than forced. As he is a fellow HSP, I felt heard and seen by Tekin, which was lacking in my previous experiences in therapy. He has a structured style with the ability to adjust and evaluate the work we did together. Overall, this was a truly constructive and beautiful experience.

  • E. Female, 35

I saw Tekin for the first time a year ago. I was beginning to learn about my highly sensitive nature and plan a wedding in the meantime. I cannot describe how grateful I am for his steady guidance and kind nature. In fact, he really is a full human with a wealth of valuable insight into the nuances of sensitivity. His skills provide a framework for the process and allow you to focus on achieving your goals.

  • J. Female, 28

Tekin was really helpful! He really understands highly sensitive people. I would recommend his guidance to anyone who is highly sensitive seeking support or who feels they are simply not "clicking" with their previous mental health experts.

  • G. Male, 28

I knocked on his door as I was dealing with a lot of anxiety around starting out as a freelancer. In the past, I was told that “I was feeling too much, that I needed to get over it” and “making a big deal out of it”. In my sessions with him, I shed off a lot shame around being a sensitive person. Throughout our sessions, I learned to deal with the anxieties I had and calmed down enough to take the step and launch my own business. I don’t know how I would’ve done it without his accepting presence. Thank you for your support and authenticity in our sessions!

What Would Working With Me Look Like?

A lot of people never heard about the highly sensitive trait until we started working together, so I usually start by providing as much information and resources about this trait as possible. Often, clients come to me feeling that they are “just different” or “something is wrong with them”. So, finding out what the trait of high sensitivity really means will clear up a lot of the myths and lies that Western society breeds about sensitivity. You don't have to fix it! Our process has three main steps:

+ Defining Challenges

There may be some areas in your life that might be giving you discomfort not knowing how to deal with your sensitivities (e.g. challenges in relationships, at work, or feelings of anxiety, stress, depression, etc.). It's very common because our society doesn't do a very good job of understanding - let alone teaching - people about sensitivity and how to handle it. I work with each client to define what your challenges are and discuss how to manage your sensitivity so that it no longer leads to over-stimulation that gets in the way of your life or work.

+ Developing Awareness & Skills

Learning to work with your unique sensitivities can take many forms, and together we'll assess which one is best for you. I often teach clients mindfulness/awareness practices to help create a deeper understanding of emotions and patterns in their lives that may not be working, then we add skills and techniques to handle things more effectively. It is also possible that you might want to visit feelings and events from your past or your present life. We will always make space to process and best work with what needs attention in the moment.

+ Implementing Positive Change

At pre-set points we will check how our process is supporting you in meeting your goals and make adjustments according to your needs. You always have a choice of how we approach your treatment, and I work with my clients to determine what approach works best for each person.

The methods I include in my practice are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to work with negative thought patterns, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) to work with strong emotions, and mindfulness-based techniques to calm the nervous system.
